About the Artist
Christine Daunis is a native of Louisiana. She studied Fine Arts at U.N.O. in New Orleans and Nicholls State University in Thibodaux, Louisiana. She is a Benedictine Oblate of Saint Joseph’s Abbey in Covington, Louisiana. Ms. Daunis is also a member of the Louisiana Art and Artists Guild. Her icons have won numerous awards and honors, including first place at the Annual River Road Show, a national juried exhibit in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Ms. Daunis is a student of the Prosopon School of Iconology since 2002, under the tutelage of Mr. Dmitri Andreyev, Instructor and Master Iconographer. In 2009, Ms. Daunis became a Prosopon School Workshop Coordinator, organizing annual icon workshops for beginning and advanced study on a national level. These workshops are held each fall at the Christian Life Center, Saint Joseph Abbey, in Saint Benedict, Louisiana. Ms. Daunis recently received the blessing of Mr. Vladislav Andrejev, Master Iconographer and founder of the Prosopon School of Iconology, to conduct formal classes for beginning students on the local level.
